Sofie measures time by replacing numbers with paint and light. Her way of working is so careful and precise, and by giving such great attention to details, she adds meditative and sensual qualities to her work. For Sofie, a wall offers a companionship that observes and reflects what is around it. The way it is positioned in space relates to the ways light and shadows are constantly created and dissapear. What is in front of the wall has equal importance to its back and sides. This three dimensional way of thinking is also apparent in her paintings, which she approaches as sculptures. Her monochromes presented in the final show are the results of deep contemplation, both intellectual and emotional, about vision, seeing and beyond.
